Educational qualification

The minimum educational requirement varies depending on the post applied for.

For Assistant Superintendent Jail (Cat. No. 1 & 2):

  • Graduation from any recognized university or its equivalent

For Jail Warder (Cat. No. 3 and 4):

Physical Standards – Height and Chest Measurement

Selection Process for HSSC Group-C Post 2026

The selection process is multi-stage and merit-based. Here's a full breakdown of how candidates progress from application to final recommendation.

Stage 1: CET Score Screening

Only those candidates who have qualified CET (Advt. 01/2025) with minimum qualifying marks are invited to apply. till 10 times The total number of posts advertised will be shortlisted for written/skill test on the basis of CET qualification.

Stage 2: Physical Measurements and Screening Test

For police and prison service posts, candidates are first tested on physical standards (height, chest). Those who qualify proceed to the Physical Endurance Test (PET), which is only qualifying in nature.

Stage 3: Written Examination (Phase-II)

The main OMR-based written examination determines the final merit. Candidates must obtain a minimum of 50% (General) or 40% (Reserved) marks in the written examination to be considered for selection.

Step 4: Merit List and Recommendation

On the basis of written/skill test marks, a category-wise merit list is prepared. If two candidates have equal marks, the higher candidate gets preference. If the age is also the same, then the candidate with higher CET Stage-I marks is given a higher rank.

Step 5: Document Verification

The Appointment Department verifies the authenticity of the documents uploaded at the time of appointment.

Reservation Policy for HSSC Recruitment 2026

The reservation structure of Haryana for this recruitment follows multiple layers of vertical and horizontal reservation. Here is a simplified summary of the key reservation provisions.

Category-wise reservation overview

  • DSC (Deprived Scheduled Castes) and OSC (Other Scheduled Castes): As per government instructions dated November 13, 2024, 20% of the SC quota has been sub-divided equally between DSC and OSC.

  • BCA and BCB (non-creamy layer): Applicable only for bona fide residents of Haryana. Creamy layer candidates are considered as general category.

  • EWS (Economically Weaker Section): 10% reservation for candidates whose family gross annual income is less than ₹8 lakh and who do not own specified assets.

  • Ex-Servicemen (ESM): Horizontal reservation with priority order: Disabled ESM > Other ESM > Family member of Disabled ESM > Family member of other ESM.
