TNPSC CTS Diploma/ITI Recruitment 2026 Vacancy Details
A total of 839 vacancies are available for 56 posts under various departments, boards and corporations of the Government of Tamil Nadu. The major posts and their vacancy numbers are listed below; Complete post-wise list with post code is available in the official notification.
The number of vacancies and their distribution are provisional and may be amended before the commencement of physical certificate verification/counselling. TNPSC also reserves the right to include additional posts with similar eligibility conditions. Some vacancy figures include backlog vacancies or shortfall vacancies for SC/ST, as indicated in the official notification.
TNPSC CTS Diploma/ITI Recruitment 2026 Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must satisfy the general eligibility conditions prescribed by TNPSC including citizenship requirements applicable to Tamil Nadu Government recruitments. Admission to the examination is strictly provisional and subject to verification of eligibility at each stage.
Educational qualification
Each of the 56 posts requires a different educational qualification, typically a Diploma, ITI/National Trade Certificate, or a degree in a relevant engineering or technical subject. Candidates must possess the prescribed qualification as on the date of notification, and any practical experience required must be obtained after acquiring the prescribed educational qualification. Candidates should also have adequate knowledge of Tamil, as mentioned in the notification.

TNPSC CTS Diploma/ITI Recruitment 2026 Age Limit
For most of the posts age will be calculated from 01.07.2026.
- The minimum age for all posts except Motor Vehicle Inspector Grade-II and Junior Training Officer posts is 18 years.
- For Motor Vehicle Inspector, Grade-II, the minimum age is 21 years as on 01.07.2026.
- For Junior Training Officer Posts (Post Code 3617 to 3648 and 3773 to 3783), the minimum age is 21 years as on 01.08.2026.
- The maximum age varies according to the post: for example, 34 years for Motor Vehicle Inspector Grade-II, 32 years for Assistant Manager/Radio Supervisor/Mine Foreman, 50 years for Technical Assistant (Post Code 3380), and there is no maximum age limit for most Junior Training Officer and Junior Drafting Officer posts (subject to the limit of 60 years).
- No maximum age limit means that the candidate should not have completed 60 years of age as on 01.07.2026 or at the time of selection/appointment.

TNPSC CTS Diploma/ITI Recruitment 2026 Salary/Pay Level
Most of the posts are placed under the 7th Pay Commission pay matrix level rather than a fixed rupee figure. Some sample salary levels are given below; The exact in-hand salary figures have not been announced yet in the source notification.
TNPSC CTS Diploma/ITI Recruitment 2026 Application Fee
- Exam fee Rs. Rs.100 for one subject paper will be payable at the time of submission of online application.
- Additional Rs. 1000 for each additional subject paper chosen. Rs 100 will have to be paid per subject paper.
- Fee once paid for a subject paper will not be refunded if the candidate subsequently withdraws that subject paper.
- Candidates belonging to SC, SC(A), ST, MBC/DC, BC (OBCM), BCM, Persons with Benchmark Disability, Ex-Servicemen and Destitute Widow categories can avail fee relaxation/concession as per the free-chance rules detailed in the notification (Annexure II).
- Fee should be paid online through Net Banking, Credit Card, Debit Card or UPI; Offline modes like demand draft or postal order are not accepted.
TNPSC CTS Diploma/ITI Recruitment 2026 Selection Process & Exam Pattern
Combined Technical Services Examination (Diploma/ITI) is conducted as a single stage written examination followed by onscreen certificate verification, physical certificate verification and counseling (wherever applicable).
- Total marks considered for final selection: 450 (Part B and Part C of Paper I, plus Paper II).
- The minimum qualifying marks in Part A of Paper I (Tamil Eligibility Test) is 40% (60 marks); Part B and Part C are evaluated only if this qualifying mark is obtained.
- Disabled candidates can claim exemption from Part A (Tamil Eligibility Test) by declaring the same in the online application.
- Candidates have to appear for both Paper I and Paper II; Failure to appear in any paper disqualifies the candidate from selection, even if qualifying marks are obtained.
- After the written examination, onscreen certificate verification is conducted, followed by physical certificate verification and counseling wherever applicable.
- The final selection is based on the total marks obtained in Part B and Part C of Paper I and Paper II, subject to the rule of reservation of appointments.
- Candidates can select two district centers as preference for written examination; Benchmark Disability candidates can choose only one district centre.

- SSLC/HSC marksheet for proof of date of birth (or birth certificate/transfer certificate/degree marksheet if date of birth is not mentioned)
- Diploma/ITI/National Trade Certificate/National Apprenticeship Certificate/Degree/Provisional Certificate/Consolidated Marksheet as proof of educational qualification.
- Experience certificate, where applicable, in the prescribed format (Annexure V)
- Community Certificate for SC/SC(A)/ST/MBC/DC/BC(OBCM)/BCM candidates issued by the competent authority.
- Disability Certificate in the prescribed format for persons with benchmark disability
- Original certificates/pension payment orders and other supporting documents for ex-servicemen claims
- Destitute Widow Certificate issued by Revenue Divisional Officer/Assistant Collector/Sub-Collector, where applicable
- Eye Health Certificate from Ophthalmologist of Government Hospital for specified posts listed in the notification
- No Objection Certificate for candidates already serving in Government or Semi-Government service

- Complete One Time Registration (OTR) by paying Rs. Rs 150 as registration fee, if not already registered (valid for 5 years).
- Log in using OTR User ID and Password, and verify the previously filled OTR details.

- Admission to all stages of the examination is strictly provisional subject to fulfillment of the eligibility conditions; Mere admission does not confer the right to appointment.
- Candidates should select the paper of only that subject in which they possess the required educational qualification.
- Prohibited items including mobile phones, electronic devices, calculators, books and loose sheets are strictly prohibited inside the examination hall.
- The number of vacancies is provisional and subject to revision before physical certificate verification/counseling.
- Candidates belonging to SC/SC(A)/ST/MBC/DC/BC(OBCM)/BCM with 5 years or more of previous government service are not eligible to apply even within the age limit.
- Persons with benchmark disability are not eligible for Motor Vehicle Inspector Grade-II and Assistant Manager (Tamil Nadu Fisheries Development Corporation) posts.
- Admission Memorandum (Hall Ticket) will be made available only on the website of the Commission and will not be sent by post.
- Any discrepancy between the details in the online application and the uploaded documents will result in rejection of the candidature after due process.
- Selection for appointment is purely provisional, subject to the final orders in the court cases pending before the Honorable Madras High Court and Madurai Bench.
